Brushless Strokes

This is a brush free zone. As of now, I only use palette knives when creating a painting. That's not to say I'm anti-brush, but if I'm being honest, I hate cleaning brushes. I've never used a brush had had it return safely from it's journey. I also truly love the diversity in color, texture and style that comes with only using knives. It has definitely been a challenge and continues to be so. Yet, its that challenge that continuously drives me into new uncomfortable territory. Which should only benefit my clients.

My Story

Born in the Midwest in the 80's was a special gift. All the joys of neon spandex and none of the guilt. It also had the added bonus of the beautiful and diverse Midwestern scenery. Where many travel far to marvel at the ever changing seasons and colors, I simply looked outside. I was always fascinated with natures wonder.

I loved watching the trees move and the way the light changed everything throughout each day. I often sketched landscapes or single trees. I wish I could say I was some savant with crayons, but I was more into my action figures and cartoons.

Life started in the small town of Deerfield WI. Was a Cub scout for many years, as well as, an active little athlete, musician and..... dancer. We spent our summers outdoors camping and traveling. After 7 short years we moved down the road to another small suburb outside the capital city of Madison. Our backyard of cornfields were traded in for rivers and lakes. Views of forests for that of boats. I was also lucky to have been taken on many traveling adventures. Visiting countries such as Mexico, Costa Rica, China and more.

After High school, I obtained a degree in criminal justice, but decided to move across the Pacific and teach English in the Fujian province of China. Again affording me the opportunity to travel and experience all the world had to offer. From there I spent time in Thailand, England, France, Spain and more before finally settling back here in Madison WI.

Now I spend my time enjoying all things stereotypical Wisconsin. Great craft beer, food, family, friends and cheese. All of which pair wonderfully with art. I can't forget my main man Miles. A constant source of inspiration, my 2 year old red Australian Cattle Dog/ Boxer Mix, keeps me moving on my toes. He'd prefer I spent less time painting and more time playing, but he likes sit close while I work all the same.

I try and incorporate my many unique life experiences into my work. I look forward to seeing what influences me next 😉
